Monkeys or Alligators?

One more for May. I finished these snazzy Monkey socks. BUT, if I put eyes on the toes they were look like alligators, right? hmm.. what to do? these were made with size 2 needles and Regia yarn. Yes, green... of course!

Not sure what to start next. I kind of want to give Sheldon th turtle a try ... but I just got caught up to the sock plunge. 9 pairs of socks for the first nine weeks of the contest... I mean knit along. I am bound to get behind at some point right?

I could knit the second sock to tofusties, or Opal banana pairs, or a new pair of cotton ... hmmm.

Ruby Slippers and socks

What could make this sockergirl happier? A pair of shiny red slippers for the next match. My old ones blew out the side and NW mud puddles would seep in rather quickly, regardless of my lightening speeds and power shots. I thought about retiring with the shoes but when I was in the sports store.... I found these super shoes on sale! I know with the red shoes I will pass quicker.
Maybe I will retire with this pair in about two years.

Then to make the day even better, I completed two pairs of socks!!! The first pair provoked me to go shopping for the ruby slippers. I finally bound off the Knee high soccer socks to wear to my next soccer game. These socks were my own design!!! .... And they seem to function. Actually I will put them to the text later this week. I kept the pattern simple with no increases or decreases using 3 balls of Casacades Fixation cotton yarn.

Should I try to complete another pair for summer season?

This evening I wrapped up the On-line red -cinnamon socks. They were a little itchy and a bit stretchy. Will will see how my friends enjoys them. I wish the yarn was better to put more love into them.

Two socks done, BUT not a pair.

I finished the red-cinnamon on-line sock and the green monkey sock. Not sure why the monkey's were put down since they were pretty fun to pound out in front of the TV. I think I am at least two pairs of socks behind on the plunge, so I am hoping to finish these two pair of socks and maybe even the rest of my cotton soccer sock. The soccer socks have turned the heel and are almost through the gusset. They should be finished SOON! yippy! So as I knit I am trying to decide which pair is next?? which pair to take on vacation in the end of June and which pairs to make before Christmas. I know it is a little early to decide on that one..

this is my seasame street character, am I really like Bert?

You Are Bert

Extremely serious and a little eccentric, people find you loveable - even if you don't love them!

You are usually feeling: Logical - you rarely let your emotions rule you

You are famous for: Being smart, a total neat freak, and maybe just a little evil

How you life your life: With passion, even if your odd passions (like bottle caps and pigeons) are baffling to others

still knitting.... slowly

Here is what I have been talking about... a mess. Four socks on the needles from size 1 to size 4 needles. from left to right we have.... Sock madness round 7 sock (its a little too tight so needs some assistance), then we have the info mus soccer socks (to replace worn out store bought types), then the red cinnamon socks for a size 7 1/2 footed person (this on-line yarn has been problematic and stretcher than yarn I am used to working.), and finally the green Monkey socks. When will I get a pair finished for the 52 plunge?? I should be on #7 for that Knit-A-Long. I suppose there will be an explosion of productivity soon.... I hope.

Torachan

It seems I have picked up a pet, look down the side bar and you will be bale to meet Torachan. he is very cute and will be able to travel with me very easily. You can even feed him some meat and rub his tummy to hear him growl. I think if you play with him enough he will even eat your curser. It seems I have a new friend. (Oh, boy do I need to get a life.) I wonder if I am going to have to clean his cage... ??

Soccer socks it will be

I was plugging away on the Sock Madness 7 pattern I was even to the heel and thinking I could finish a sock maybe even tonight. THEN... I got an idea to try on the leg part... AND.... I could not put it on my foot. :( I was so sad. I am not sure what to do. I put the sock down nicely, as throwing it across the room might hurt the yarn karma when it is put in a new form. THEN I picked up my soccer socks... I REALLY need them. I think I am about 7 inches on... half way down the leg. well, back to the needles.

4 on, none done

So I am feeling unmotivated and rotating through the needles. I have a dark green monkey sock past the heel and into the gusset. I started a pair I am to sell, but I don't like the yarn. I have the Sock Madness 7 pattern started pasted the scallop top and a whole repeat into the leg. It is not that hard just very breathable with all the YOs. I am thinking it will be a summer wool sock or a gift for someone to wear in their clogs. Then there is the slow growing soccer sock, currently at 5 inches. It has a few more inches on it. Since I don't have a Tuesday night game maybe I will only be allowed to work on that sock Tuesday night. hmmm, good idea.
Basically the knitting has slowed down. I am kind of feeling like i want to make a quick sweater.

And in 4 days... wah la!

I successfully completed the Mad Batik sock from the contest. It was fun, but I am not sure I will do these socks again. Although I might look for a pattern that is more my style and less stitches on about a size 2 or 3 needle. Yep, that's my pace. I did not anticipate this type of pattern, so I was fortunate to have a small stash to draw out a good combo. Ok Ok... I kind of have a heaping stash that needs to dwindle.... quicker than it grows. Having been to a Batik factory in Indonesia this pattern made sense. Also the dark, dark color with white seems to be a nice traditional color choice. I just thought I would spice it up with the self-striping Lana grosse background thread.
Now I think I need to work on something easier.... and quick with less focus.... a sock I can knit in my sleep. hmm...

Pattern 6 Batic with modifications

Yesterday the 6th pattern for Sock Madness came out in the afternoon and I was here to catch it fairly hot of the press. I started it in green :)... then got worried the selected colors did not contrast enough. Then I started the real sock in Lana grossa #5040 and Fortissima white #1001. A day later I have one sock. I added a rib, a second repeat in the leg and about an inch in the leg of knit. The sock is 72 stitches. WOW lot O stitches! So ribbed in #1s then legged in #2s, realized the leg was a little loose and heeled in #1s on out. I also took out 6 stitches in the foot because the photos of other mad people were showing a loose fit. I also had an issue with a pattern being on the bottom of the foot. What's the point? Who is checking out the bottom of my feet? So i checker boarded the bottom. good ? bad? still undecided. The biggest thing I learned from this pattern is... this patterns are not hard, they actually might be fun if I have time to sit and knit. I might just look for a super cool pattern to make. The trick to this pattern is having highly contrasting colors, otherwise you might not be happy with the outcome. got to get the other sock started tonight otherwise the second one may not come alive. Happy knits!

Mad Dancing

Here it is... Pattern #5 of Sock Madness: Mad to Dance. Fun pattern but a few parts of the pattern had instructional problems, but with a bit of thought it was manageable to figure out a reasonable sock. Now that this sock is done and the next pattern is due out Friday (Tomorrow) I am not sure what to do next in this lag time? How about I start a boring sock? My old stand by top down 56st size 3.... hmm... OK. Then the next tough decision, what color next? oh boy, do I dare dive into the stash and hear their little voices "pick me! No no Pick me!" ... can I sneak a peak into my treasure chest with out them knowing? Or should I just grab one of the over flow yarns I got at Little Knits last week?
